Ride the Great Orme Cable Cars
The cable cars on the Great Orme have been carrying passengers up the headland since 1969, making them one of the longest-running aerial ropeways in Britain. At 207 metres above sea level, the summit offers one of the best viewpoints on the North Wales coast. On a clear day, you can see as far as Anglesey, the Isle of Man, and the mountains of Snowdonia stretching across the horizon.
Wildlife on the Great Orme
As you travel up the headland, keep an eye out for the famous Kashmiri goat. These wild goats have roamed the Great Orme for over a century, originally introduced in the 1800s. They’re known for appearing in unexpected places, including near the cable car stations. While they’re used to people, they’re still wild animals, so it’s best to admire them from a respectful distance.

The cable cars typically run from late March through to the end of October, depending on the weather. They’re a popular choice for families, couples, and anyone wanting an easy route to the summit without the climb.
If you’re visiting during peak season, arriving earlier in the day can help you avoid longer queues. Tickets are available at the lower station in Happy Valley, and services run regularly throughout the day.
